Boy In the Striped Pajamas
Boy in the Striped Pajamas, has 240 pages and the author that wrote this sad but great novel is John Boyne. Bruno (the main character), (his sister) Gretel, his mom, dad, and maids and butler suddenly move. They have to leave their nice home in Berlin, Germany. The family moves to Auschwitz, a death camp in Germany. When Bruno was wandering around and exploring he comes across a child in the camp named Shemuel. Bruno wanted to see what it was like in the camp and help Shemuel. Shemuel gave him a pair of striped pajamas so Bruno could enter the camp. Sadly, Bruno didn't make it out.

Yellow Star
Yellow Star
Yellow Star is a fantastic Holocaust novel. It is 241 pages of
adventure, torture, and sadness by Jennifer Roy.Syvia, just a 6 year old is put in a Ghetto for Jews. Syvia is the youngest out of a family of 4. Her sister Dora, her mother, and dad go to work for the Ghetto. Eventually, she finds friends, Hava and Itka. The Lodz Ghetto isn’t your typical neighborhood. Wherever you go you have to watch your back otherwise the Nazis will get it. Plus another thing to worry about: FOOD! You either get it moldy or you don’t get anything! If you didn’t work most likely you weren’t fed. Just as everybody starts to get used to life people start disappearing. Concentration Camps. That’s where everybody’s going. Whether you were tricked into “Volunteering”, were too young, too old, or too sick to work you were sent there. All children were ordered to get on the train and go. Syvia didn’t. She hid in a cemetery with her dad for every night for weeks. Until the Nazis found where they were hiding. Then the Nazi’s sent all on the train. When it was time to get on Syvia’s Papa has to decide.
His family went to the side of death. He went to the side to help clean up the Lodz Ghetto. He refused to leave his family. He chose the side of death. When it was time to get on the train he didn’t. The family stayed to help clean up. The Nazis didn’t care. So Syvia has to stay in a cellar with other children. They’re found! When the Nazis found them they took them outside. The one that grabbed Syvia and kicked her three times. Now the kids stay with the adults because they fought back. Bombs. The Russian are dropping bombs on the Ghetto! They have to get out. When they got out all 800 ran to the flour house. They stayed there until 3 days later the bombing starts again. Syvia is brave.
Syvia is a brave little girl. Syvia saved them! She woke people up and got them out of the flour house. Before they were bombed to death. Another example of her bravery was when she went outside to get a pear. First of there wasn’t supposed to be children in the ghetto. Second of all the fruit was only supposed to be for the Nazis. In my opinion she is very brave.

Holes

Holes
Louis Sachar wrote a captivating novel entitled Holes, 233 pages. Stanley Yelnats is a very unlucky teenager because of his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather!! Stanley supposedly stole a pair of shoes called Sweet Feet. They're Clyde Livingston's the famous baseball players shoes. Clyde donated them to a charity. It was Camp Greenlake or jail. Stanley's family is poor so he's never been to camp before. He was to dig a hole 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep. His shovel was his measuring stick. He had 2 pairs of orange clothes. One for working the other for resting. The next day he switched. The third day clothes were washed. His best friend in his tent is named Zero. Zero wants to learn to read and write, so Stanely teaches him. Zero will dig part of his hole every day so Stanely has enough energy to teach. After ZigZag and him get into a fight the Warden gets called out. Zero is done! He is never digging another hole again!
Stanely goes after him. They travel to God's thumb where they find refuge. When stanley reaches Zero, Zero almost dies fom either Sploosh or dehydration. Sploosh is a peach mixture preserved for more than 100 years. On God's thumb there was water and onions!! They lived there for a week or more. When they returned they found what the Warden was looking for. They weren't just digging to build character. Stanley got to go home with the case the the warden was looking for. It read: STANLEY YELNATS.It belonged to him! As for Zero his records were erased fom camp Greenlake. He got to go with Stanley!!! In the case were stones and documents from the1800s. Also his dad an inventor found the cure for foot odor. Stanley's family is rich. Zero found his mom!! (His mom left him) I highly reccomend this story.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants #3 is 373 pages of friendship, growing up, and family. Ann Brashares wrote this fabulous novel. One of the main characters is Carmen. Carmen is going to be a big sister! Her mom is having a boy. Carmen isn’t all so thrilled though. She’s afraid that as soon as she leaves for college, her family will forget about her. In the end, she realizes that her family would never forget about her. The author stresses the importance of family.
Family is the most important thing. Carmen’s mom is there for her throughout the story trying to comfort her. She tells Carmen that she would never forget her. Even Al, Christina’s (Carmen's mom) ex-husband, comforts Carmen and the family. When Christina needs Carmen, she helps her get through the rough days. Without family people would be very lonely.

boy of the painted cave
Boy of the Painted Cave
I have just finished reading Boy of the Painted Cave by Justin Denzel, 158 pages. Tao (the main character0 is a boy with a crippled leg and a dream. His dream is to be a cave painter. Volt, Tao's clan leader does not approve of him cave painting or hunting in the Slough with Ram. (Tao's wolf-dog) In the end Tao becomes a cave painter with Graybeards help. Volt finally changes his mind about wolf-dogs. Tao has conflict with Volt.
Volt and Tao have a character vs. character conflict. Volt yells at Tao and punishes him frequently. Tao and Volt disagree about wolf-dogs. Volt prohibits going into the Slough and hunting with wolf-dogs, but Tao does both anyway. Tao also draws even though Volt dosen't allow it. In the end the character vs. characrer conflict is over

Sisterhood Blog
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1st book, by Ann Brashares, has 294 pages. One of the main characters is Carmen. The main conflict is her dad, Al, is getting remarried. Carmen dosen't like Lydia (al's fiance) or her kids Paul and Krista. In the end Carmen realizes throwing a tantrum isn't the right way to act. She ends up becoming friends with Paul and Krista. Sisterhood's main theme is importance of freindship.
In Sisterhood, the author stresses the importance of friendship. Tibby, Carmen, Bridget, and lena have been friends since they were born. Their mothers were friends while pregnant, so the girls were friends. The girls were friends through thick and thin. When Bridgets mom died they were there for her. Also, when carmen's parents split up they comforted her. I would reccomend the 1st Sisterhood book.
